Five CAC fall sports teams will continue their seasons this week after receiving bids to compete in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship Tournament. Frostburg State volleyball, Marymount volleyball, Frostburg State women's soccer, and Penn State Harrisburg men's and women's soccer teams will vie for ECAC titles, beginning Wednesday night with volleyball first-round action.
Established in 1938, the ECAC is the nation's largest Conference, ranging in location from Maine to Georgia, and westerly to Missouri. The ECAC hosts numerous championships in men's and women's sports across Divisions I, II and III, offering opportunities for thousands of student-athletes. To qualify for the ECAC postseason, members institutions must compile a .500 record or above.
Frostburg State and Marymount will represent the CAC as two of the 13 teams in the ECAC Volleyball Championship. Action begins on Wednesday with five first-round matchups, including Marymount (14-14) hosting Rutgers-Camden (16-16) at 7 p.m.
Wednesday's winners will advance to Saturday's quarterfinals, which will be hosted by Frostburg State. The Bobcats (16-11) will meet the Penn State Altoona/Westminster winner on Saturday at 2 p.m. The semifinals and championship will also be hosted by Frostburg State on Sunday.
Frostburg State and Penn State Harrisburg will represent the CAC as two of the 15 teams in the ECAC Women's Soccer Championship. The tournament will be spread out over two consecutive weekends, Nov. 11-12 and Nov. 18-19, with first-round matchups set for Saturday, Nov. 11. Frostburg State will host an opening-weekend pod featuring Westminster, Grove City, and Franciscan. The Bobcats (9-8-2) will host Westminster (10-8) on Saturday at 2 p.m.
Penn State Harrisburg (12-7) is set to take on Lebanon Valley (9-6-3) in Saturday's opening round at Albright, with game time at 5:30 p.m. Albright and Juniata will meet in the contest of that pod, with winners slated to meet on Sunday for a trip to the semifinals.
Penn State Harrisburg is one of 16 teams selected to compete in the ECAC Men's Soccer Championship. The tournament will be spread out over two consecutive weekends, Nov. 11-12 and Nov. 18-19, with first-round matchups set for Saturday, Nov. 11. The Lions (11-8) will take on host Penn State Behrend (15-4-1) in Saturday's first round at 11 a.m.
