Mary Washington's Cristy Falcone Earns All-America With 7th-Place Finish In Steeplechase

University of Mary Washington senior Cristy Falcone (Half Hollow Hills, N.Y/Half Hollow Hills) finished in seventh place in the 3,000 meter steeplechase at the NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships on Friday in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

Falcone finished with a school record time of 10 minutes, 42.01 seconds, breaking her old school record by three seconds. Falcone becomes the first women's track All-American since Kim Alvis in the 400 meters in 2000.

Thursday, junior Mae Winchester (Yorktown, Va./York) finished second in her heat of the 400 meter hurdles.

Winchester, who has the fifth fastest time entering the finals, set a new school record in prelims on Thursday with a time of 61.68 seconds, bettering her old school record by three-fourths of a second.

Winchester will compete in the 400 meter hurdle finals on Saturday.
