Hood And Salisbury Honored By USTFCCCA For Academic Success In 2007-08
The Hood College men's and women's track & field teams, along with the Salisbury University women's squad, were named to the U.S. Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic Indoor and Outdoor Scholar Teams of the Year list.
The selection of the All-Academic Indoor and Outdoor Scholar Teams of the Year award is based on a combination of academic and athletic achievements, with the top honor going to the team that had the combination of best overall finish at the Division III Indoor or Outdoor National Championships and cumulative GPA.
To be nominated, the team must carry a minimum 3.000 cumulative grade-point average.
The Hood women's track & field team ranked eighth nationally with a 3.481 team grade point average while the men's squad combined for a 3.019 GPA to rank 54th nationally.
Salisbury also cracked the top 50 in the Division III women's rankings, placing 49th with a 3.314 team GPA.
The SU women placed second in the team standings at the 2008 CAC Track & Field Championship meet while the Hood women placed fourth. On the men's side, the Blazers finished in fifth place at the conference championships.
