Mary Washington And Salisbury Will Battle For Both CAC Tennis Championships

Mary Washington and Salisbury, the top two seeds in both CAC tennis championship tournaments, posted semifinal victories in both men's and women's action and will square off for the two conference championships this weekend.

In the women's championship tournament, top-seeded Mary Washington will host second-seeded Salisbury for the 2008 title Saturday at 2 p.m.  UMW (19-3) downed fourth-seeded York (7-8) while the Sea Gulls (17-4) stopped third-seeded St. Mary's (7-7), both by a 9-0 margin, to advance to the title match.  The Eagles are the four-time defending CAC champions.

In the men's tournament, top-seeded Salisbury will host second-seeded Mary Washington for the 2008 crown Sunday at 1 p.m.  SU (16-4) defeated fourth-seeded St. Mary's (8-9) while UMW (19-4) topped third-seeded York (14-5), both by 8-1 margins, to advance to the championship.  UMW has won eight-straight CAC men's tennis championships.
