Mary Washington Selected To Host NCAA Men's And Women's Tennis Tournament Action This Weekend

The University of Mary Washington women's tennis team, ranked seventh in the nation, will host the first three rounds of the NCAA Tournament this weekend as one of eight host sites. The Eagles (20-3) will host the winner of Friday's 1:00 p.m. match between Methodist College and Elizabethtown College on Saturday at 1:00 p.m., while Johns Hopkins will face Cabrini College on Friday at 3 p.m., with the winner facing the College of New Jersey on Saturday at 3 p.m.

The winners of Saturday's games will play on Sunday at 3 p.m., with that victor advancing to the NCAA Division III National Championships on May 13-18 at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota.

The University of Mary Washington men's tennis team will host one of eight NCAA regionals this weekend at the Battleground. The Eagles, ranked 12th in the nation, will be the second seed, and along with top seed in the regional Trinity (Tx.) University will receive a first round bye. On Friday, third seeded Washington & Lee University will face sixth seeded Messiah College at 11 a.m., and fourth seeded Stevens Institute will face fifth seeded Neumann at 9 a.m.

The winner of the W&L/Messiah match will face Mary Washington on Saturday at 11 a.m., with the winner of Stevens Institute/Neumann facing Trinity at 9 a.m. Those two winners will square off Sunday at noon with the winner advancing to the NCAA National Championships on May 13-18 at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine.
