Sarah Culver Christopher Newport Women's Lacrosse Junior Christopher Newport junior Sarah Culver was honored as the CAC Co-Offensive Player of the Week after registering seven goals in the Captains' 19-16 victory over St. Mary's in the first round of the CAC Tournament on Saturday. Four of her goals came in the second half, including the go-ahead goal midway through the period, before she came back with the final two tallies to close out the contest. Three of her strikes came from the eight-meter arc, giving her 18 free-position goals this season. That stands as a new program record, topping the previous mark of 17 set by Meaghan Galvin in 2014. Along with her work on the offensive end, Culver also collected a game-high seven draw controls. With that performance, she became the first player in program history to secure seven goals and seven draw controls in a single contest. Read More

Mackenzie Regen Christopher Newport Women's Lacrosse Sophomore Christopher Newport sophomore Mackenzie Regen was named the CAC Defensive Player of the Week after forcing six turnovers and collecting a career-high four ground balls in the Captains' CAC first round victory against St. Mary's. Regen's six caused turnovers equaled the third-highest single-game total in CNU history, and were the most for a Captains since 2006. Read More

Regan Cook York Women's Lacrosse Sophomore York sophomore Regan Cook was named the CAC Offensive Player of the Week after totaling 10 goals and five assists in victories over Frostburg State, Gettysburg and Southern Virginia last week. In Wednesday's win over Frostburg State, Cook tallied six points on three goals and three assists. She notched her three goals on just three shots. She followed that with five points on four goals and one assist in a 14-12 win over No. 2 Gettysburg. Cook went 1-for-1 on free position shots and also had one ground ball in the win over the Bullets. Kaitlyn Ready Christopher Newport Women's Lacrosse Sophomore Christopher Newport sophomore goalkeeper Kaitlyn Ready was honored as the CAC Defensive Player of the Week after posting a pair of victories with 18 saves, a 78.3% save percentage and a goals against average of 3.00 in 100 minutes of action. Against Southern Virginia on Wednesday, she registered 12 saves, which marked her 13th double-digit effort of the year. Especially effective on free-position attempts, she made five stops on eight-meter shots while holding SVU to an 0-for-7 performance from the arc. On Saturday against Wesley, she came back with six more saves against the Wolverines, including another stop on a free-position attempt. Nicole Clauter York Women's Lacrosse Junior York junior defender Nicole Clauter earned CAC Defensive Player of the Week accolades for the third time this year afer totaling 27 draw controls, nine ground balls and five caused turnovers in a 2-0 week for the Spartans. Clauter opened the week with a school-record 14 draw controls, four ground balls and two caused turnovers in a road win at St. Mary's. She followed that with 13 draw controls, five ground balls and three caused turnovers in a victory over Christopher Newport. Clauter leads the CAC in draw controls this season with 74. Read More

Devin Hursey York Women's Lacrosse Sophomore York sophomore Devin Hursey claimed CAC Offensive Player of the Week honors after tallying 14 points on five goals and nine assists in wins over St. Mary's and Christopher Newport. Hursey started the week with a school-record-tying 11 points vs. St. Mary's, notching a school-record nine assists along with two goals in a 22-12 victory. She closed out the week with three goals in the Spartans' 21-12 triumph over CNU. Hursey went 2-for-5 at free position shots in the victory. Read More

Lacey Brown St. Mary's Women's Lacrosse Senior St. Mary's senior Lacey Brown collected CAC Offensive Player of the Week honors after totaling five goals, two assists, six caused turnovers and five ground balls in a 2-0 week for the Seahawks. Brown opened up the week with her 12th career hat trick, and fourth of the season, with three goals, a career-best four caused turnovers and three ground balls in a 13-12 overtime win at Marymount. She closed the week two goals, two assists, two ground balls and two caused turnovers in a victory over Southern Virginia. Her fourth point of the day vs. Southern Virginia marked her 100th career point. Read More

Emily McQuay Salisbury Women's Lacrosse Sophomore Salisbury sophomore Emily McQuay was honored as the CAC Defensive Player of the Week after causing three turnovers to help the Sea Gulls pick up an 18-6 win over Christopher Newport in CAC action. She also recorded one ground ball and one draw control in the win. McQuay and the SU defense limited the Captains to a season-low 13 shots and six goals, their second-lowest scoring output of the year. Read More

On Wednesday against Randolph-Macon, she matched her career-high with seven goals. That also equaled the fourth-highest single-game total in program history. On Saturday, she returned with five more strikes during a CAC triumph over St. Mary's. Four of her tallies came in the second half, including the game-winner on a free-position attempt with two seconds remaining in regulation. Julia Golden Christopher Newport Women's Lacrosse Junior Christopher Newport junior Julia Golden earned CAC Defensive Player of the Week honors after posting eight caused turnovers, 12 draw controls, and six ground balls in a 2-0 week. On Wednesday against Randolph-Macon, she matched her career-high with seven draw controls, including five in the first half. She also established a new career-high with four caused turnovers. Three days later, she matched her newly-established career-high with four more caused turnovers in a 14-13 triumph over St. Mary's. With the score tied at 13 against St. Mary's, she disrupted a shot on a free-position attempt with 54 seconds left before forcing a turnover, grabbing a ground ball, and starting a successful clear with 16 seconds remaining on the way to the game-winning strike. Her final ground ball marked her fifth of the game, which also set a new career-high. Along with her defensive efforts, Golden also posted five points during the week. Gianna Falcone Salisbury Women's Lacrosse Senior Salisbury senior Gianna Falcone was named the CAC Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this spring after recording a 6.50 goals against average and 62.9 save percentage in 2-0 week against nationally-ranked opponents for the third-ranked Sea Gulls. Falcone totaled 22 saves while allowing just 13 goals in wins over William Smith and York. In a 12-8 win over then-No. 13 William Smith College, Falcone recorded nine saves on 17 shots on goal. In an 8-5 victory over No. 5 York, Falcone held the Spartans to just five goals on 18 shots on net, good for a 72.2 save percentage. She also picked up six ground balls in the win over York. Catherine Leighty Christopher Newport Women's Lacrosse Freshman Christopher Newport freshman Catherine Leighty earned CAC Offensive Player of the Week honors after tallying three goals, three assists and 12 draw controls in a 22-8 victory over Frostburg State on Sunday. Leighty notched a career-high three assists and coverted each of her three shots into goals for a 100% shooting percentage. Her 12 draw controls established a new freshman record at CNU equaled the second-highest single-game total in program history. It also tied the most by any player in the CAC this season. Read More

Nicole Clauter York Women's Lacrosse Junior York junior Nicole Clauter secured CAC Defensive Player of the Week accolades for the second time this year after totaling 18 draw controls, four caused turnovers and four ground balls in a 2-0 week for the Spartans. Caluter opened the week with a school-record 12 draw control in the Spartans' victory over third-ranked Trinity (Conn.). She also notched two ground balls and two caused turnovers in the win. She then closed out the week with six draw controls, two ground balls and two caused turnovers in a win at Oswego. Read More

Meghan Fox York Women's Lacrosse Sophomore York sophomore Meghan Fox was selected as the CAC Offensive Player of the Week after totaling 14 points in a pair of wins last week, including a come-from-behind victory over third-ranked Trinity (Conn.). Trailing Trinity 7-1 in the first half, Fox started the comeback with three goals before halftime as the Spartans ended the half down 7-5. She scored three goals early in the second half and then scored York's 14th and 15th goals to tie the game with 2:48 left in regulation. Fox finished the game with a career-high eight goals, which is also the second-highest single game total in school history. Shethen followed that with four goals and two assists in a road win at Oswego on Saturday. For the week, Fox totaled 14 points on 12 goals and two assists and also had a ground ball, a draw control and a caused turnover. She put 18 of her 23 shots on target (78.3%). Read More

Gianna Falcone Salisbury Women's Lacrosse Senior Salisbury senior goalkeeper Gianna Falcone earned CAC Defensive Player of the Week accolades after posting a save percentage of 65.4% and goals against average of 6.74 in a 2-0 week. Falcone made 17 saves while allowing just nine goals in over 80 minutes of action between the pipes in wins over Rowan and Washington College. Read More

Dana King Salisbury Women's Lacrosse Senior Salisbury senior Dana King was tabbed as the CAC Offensive Player of the Week after totaling nine goals and one assist in a 2-0 week for the fifth-ranked Sea Gulls. King scored six times to lift the Sea Gulls to a 13-10 win over Rowan. She followed that up with a three-goal one-assist performance in a 16-4 victory against Washington College. King was a perfect 3-of-3 on free position shots in the two games and posting a 75% shooting percentage. Read More

Nicole Clauter York Women's Lacrosse Junior York junior Nicole Clauter was named the CAC Defensive Player of the Week after leading the Spartan defense to a 9-4 win over 10th-ranked Franklin & Marshall last Wednesday. Clauter powered a defense that held the Diplomats to just four goals on 14 shots on goal. Individually, Clauter held preseason All-American and reigning Inside Lacrosse National Attacker of the Year Paige Moriarity to zero points on just one shot during her time on the field. The Diplomats entered the game having scored 21 goals in their first two games, and Moriarity had tallied seven points in F&M's first two games. Fallon Fore Wesley Women's Lacrosse Junior Wesley junior Fallon Fore was tabbed as the CAC Offensive Player of the Week after tallying eight goals and two assists in the Wolverines' record-breaking 26-17 win over Gwynedd Mercy on Saturday. The 26 goals set a new program record for scoring for Wesley. In addition to her 10 points, Fore also notched 12 draw controls, three ground balls and two caused turnovers in the win. Her eight goals and 12 draw controls were one shy of tying the program's single-game record in both categories. Read More

Allie Hynson Salisbury Women's Lacrosse Senior Salisbury senior Allie Hynson secured CAC Defensive Player of the Week honors after totaling five caused turnovers, five ground balls and 10 draw controls in a 2-0 start to the season for the Sea Gulls. The midfielder opened the year with three caused turnovers, three ground balls and seven draw controls in a comeback win at Stevenson. In a win against No. 14 Catholic, Hynson caused two turnovers and picked up two ground balls while also securing three draw controls. Read More

Abby Wescott Marymount Women's Lacrosse Senior Marymount senior Abby Wescott was selected as the CAC Offensive Player of the Week after notching six goals and six assists in a 2-0 week for the Saints. Wescott opened the week with two goals and two assists in a CAC win over Southern Virginia. She followed that up with a game-high eight points on four goals and four assists in a 17-13 victory over Widener. Of her six goals on the week, four were free-position, as she finished a perfect 4-for-4 on free position shots throughout the week. She connected on 85.7% of her shots and added three draw controls, two ground balls and one caused turnover during the two games. Read More

Lacey Brown St. Mary's Women's Lacrosse Junior St. Mary's junior Lacey Brown was named the CAC Offensive Player of the Week after totaling nine goals and two assists in a 2-0 week for the Seahawks, helping them secure the No. 4 seed in the upcoming CAC Tournament. Brown started the week with career-highs of six points, four goals, two assists, and two draw controls in a key CAC 16-15 win over Christopher Newport. She followed that effort up with a new career mark in goals, tallying a career- and game-best five goals in an 18-12 victory over Frostburg State. Read More

Nicole Clauter York Women's Lacrosse Sophomore York sophomore Nicole Clauter was selected as the CAC Defensive Player of the Week for the third time this season after leading the seventh-ranked Spartans to a pair of key CAC wins, including a victory over Salisbury that snapped the Sea Gulls' 101-game conference winning streak. In wins over Salisbury and Christopher Newport, Clauter and the York defense held opponents to just 7.5 goals per contest. For the week, she totaled seven draw controls, four ground balls and caused a turnover. Read More

Against CNU, King finished with two goals and three assists, before tallying two goals and four assists in a victory over Frostburg State. King also managed four draw controls and two ground balls in the pair of victories. She shot 50% for the week. Read More

Kirsten Littlefield Mary Washington Women's Lacrosse Junior Mary Washington junior Kirsten Littlefield was selected as the CAC Defensive Player of the Week after leading the 16th-ranked Eagles to a key CAC road win at St. Mary's and an upset over 11th-ranked Catholic with a pair of fine defensive performances. In the win at St. Mary's, she had three ground balls, four draw controls, and a pair of caused turnovers, as the Eagles held the Seahawks to six goals in a 10-6 victory. She had six ground balls, one draw, and a caused turnover as UMW limited Catholic to four scores in a 12-4 win. Hanna Ashby Mary Washington Women's Lacrosse Sophomore Mary Washington sophomore Hanna Ashby was named the CAC Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this year after making nine saves in a key 9-6 CAC win at Christopher Newport on Wednesday, and starting the game for UMW in its first shutout since 1987 on Saturday against Southern Virginia. For the week, Ashby posted a 5.30 goals against average and 60.0% save percentage in the pair of victories. Read More

Fox opened the week with two goals and an assist in a road win at Frostburg State. She followed that with four goals on six shots in a home win over St. Mary's, before closing out the week with a three-goal, one-assist performance at Marymount. Fox totaled three draw controls and two caused turnovers and shot 52.9% for the week. Read More

Meaghan Galvin Christopher Newport Women's Lacrosse Senior Christopher Newport senior Meaghan Galvin was named the CAC Offensive Player of the Week for the second straight week and third time this year after totaling 13 points and 23 draw controls in a 2-0 week for the Captains. On Thursday at Southern Virginia, she kicked off her week with six points and 13 draw controls during a 19-2 victory over the Knights. Her 13 draws marked a new school record. Two days later, she came back with seven points and matched her career-high with five assists during an 18-7 triumph over Shenandoah. Her first assist of the game marked the 100th of her career, helping her become just the second player in program history with 100 career goals and 100 career assists. She is also now the only active player at any level of the NCAA with 100 career goals, assists, and draw controls. Meanwhile, Galvin also secured 10 draws against the Hornets. Haley Sieglein St. Mary's Women's Lacrosse Senior St. Mary's senior Haley Sieglein secured CAC Defensive Player of the Week accolades after tallying seven caused turnovers and seven ground balls in a 2-1 week for the Seahawks. Sieglein began the week with two ground balls and two caused turnovers at Washington College before ending the week with career-bests of five caused turnovers and four ground balls plus her fourth career goal against Wesley. Nicole Clauter York Women's Lacrosse Sophomore York sophomore Nicole Clauter claimed CAC Defensive Player of the Week honors for the second straight week after leading the Spartans to a 12-5 win over SUNY Oswego in their only action of the week. She registered five draw controls, two ground balls, and a career-high three caused turnovers in the win. Clauter played the first 45 minutes of the game before being subbed out in the lopsided win. When Clauter was on the field, the Spartans allowed just three goals on eight shots. For the season, Clauter is ranked fifth in the CAC in draw controls and leads the Spartans in draw controls (22), ground balls (22) and caused turnovers (7). Read More

Meaghan Galvin Christopher Newport Women's Lacrosse Senior Christopher Newport senior Meaghan Galvin was chosen as the CAC Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season after totaling seven goals, four assists, and 19 draw controls in a 3-0 week for the Captains. On Tuesday at Randolph-Macon, she established a new career-high with 11 draw controls. That total also marked the second-highest single-game total in CNU history. Along with her work on the draw, she added five points, including a pair of late strikes in the second half to thwart a Yellow Jacket comeback attempt during the 13-11 win. On Saturday, she kicked off CAC action with five points, including three assists, during a 12-11 win at Marymount. During that contest, she also added seven draw controls and scored the game-winning goal with one second left on the clock to seal the victory. The following afternoon, she wrapped up her week with another second-half goal to stretch CNU's lead with five minutes left in regulation during a 7-5 triumph at Stevens. Read More

Nicole Clauter York Women's Lacrosse Sophomore York sophomore Nicole Clauter was selected as the CAC Defensive Player of the Week after helping the Spartans shut down 12th-ranked Messiah for a 9-5 victory in their only game of the week. Clauter captured six draw controls and caused one turnover as the Spartan defense held the Falcons to half of their season scoring average (10 goals per game). Clauter and the Spartan defense limited the Falcons to just three shots and one goal in the second half. For the season, Clauter leads the team in draw controls with 17 and tied for the team lead with four caused turnovers in four games. Read More

Abby Wescott Marymount Women's Lacrosse Junior Marymount junior Abby Wescott was named the Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this year after totaling 17 assists and two goals in a 2-0 week for the Saints. Against John Carroll, Wescott tallied six assists and one goal. Against Ohio Northern, she recorded 11 assists and one goal. Her 11 assists against Ohio Northern were the most by a Division III player in a single game this year. Galvin began the week with three points and a season-high seven draw controls during an 18-2 victory over Virginia Wesleyan on Wednesday. Three days later, she made history during an 18-5 triumph over Roanoke, becoming just the fifth player in CNU history to register 10 points in a game after notching five goals and five assists. Against Virginia Wesleyan, she notched five saves, including a pair of stops on free-position attempts. She eventually surrendered just two goals during the 18-2 triumph, which equaled the fewest scores allowed by a CNU goalie in a complete-game effort since 2011. Three days later, she returned to post her second win during an 18-5 victory over Roanoke.
