FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- Mary Washington senior attacker Allison Davis & York senior defender Nicole Clauter were honored as the CAC Women's Lacrosse Players of the Week for March 18, 2019.   

Offensive Player of the Week

Allison Davis led Mary Washington to a pair of lopsided wins this week, scoring four goals in an 18-6 win over Kean, and adding five goals and an assist in a 19-7 win over Roanoke.


Defensive Player of the Week

York senior defender Nicole Clauter had another big week in a pair of Spartan wins for the week. Clauter began the week with five ground balls, five draw controls and two caused turnovers as the Spartans held Lebanon Valley to six goals in the 16-6 win. Clauter followed that with five ground balls, a season-high 11 draw controls, and a caused turnover in the win over Messiah. The Spartans limited Messiah to six goals over the first 56 minutes of the game before the Falcons got four goals late after the Spartans had substituted. For the season, Clauter leads the Spartans in draw controls (39), ground balls (19) and caused turnovers (13). She is ten draw controls away from being the Spartans' all-time leader in the category.

Salisbury's Ryan Schrader tallied 11 draw controls, one ground ball, and one caused turnover in a 2-0 week for No. 5 Salisbury. In a 16-7 win against Meredith College, she caused one turnover and came up with four draw controls. She then came up with seven draw controls and one ground ball in an 18-3 victory over Plymouth State University...Christopher Newport's Victoria Betterly established a new career-high with six caused turnovers against No. 22 Scranton on Saturday. That also matched the fourth-highest single-game total in program history and marked the most by a Captain against a nationally-ranked opponent. She also established new personal-bests with four draw controls and five ground balls against the Royals. Along with her work over the weekend, she added three caused turnovers and three ground balls during a win at Randolph-Macon on Wednesday. Against the Yellow Jackets, the midfielder also contributed three points, including a pair of goals, on the offensive end...Mary Washington's Rylie Cole was dominant defensively this week for the #4 Eagles, as she had two ground balls, 10 draw controls, and a caused turnover against Kean, and added four ground balls, one draw control, and one caused turnover in a runaway win from Roanoke...Salisbury's Alexis Strobel tallied 10 points in a 2-0 week for No. 5 Salisbury. All 10 of Strobel's points came on assists. The sophomore recorded four assists in a 16-7 win against Meredith College. She then registered a career-high tying six assists in an 18-3 win over Plymouth State University, all of which came in the first half...Frostburg State's Morgan Cavey capped a two-game week with seven goals, two assists and six draw controls for the Bobcats...York's Meghan Fox had another big week in a pair of Spartan wins. In the win over Lebanon Valley on Wednesday, Fox has five points on four goals and an assist while she also notched one ground ball and two caused turnovers. Fox followed that with another four goals and an assist for five points in the Saturday win over Messiah. She converted her one free position shot while she also had a ground ball. Fox finished the week with 10 points on eight goals and two assists. She leads the Spartans in points with 26 as she has a team-high 21 goals to go along with five assists...St. Mary's Kate Bartholomew led the Seahawks with 11 points on the week. Recorded eight points off of six goals and two assists in an upset victory over No. 23 Rowan. In addition, Bartholomew collected 10 draw controls and scooped up two ground balls...Southern Virginia's Lauren Thatcher led the Knights to continue their six game win-streak in their win over Berry College recording three goals, five assists for eight points shooting 60.0% and 80% on goal.
