Liz Andrews Christopher Newport Softball Freshman Christopher Newport freshman Liz Andrews earned CAC Player of the Week accolades after leading the Captains to a 4-0 week and the CAC regular season title with seven hits and 10 RBIs in just 13 at-bats. She recorded all seven hits in a span of 10 at bats through the first three games of the weekend series that captured the conference title and top seed for CNU. Andrews hit .538 with a home run, triple, and two doubles, compiling a slugging percentage of 1.077. Read More

Ginger Lewis York Softball Freshman York freshman Ginger Lewis received CAC Pitcher of the Week honors after posting a 3-0 record and allowing just one run and nine hits in 23.0 innings of work. Lewis totaled 15 strikeouts in wins over Elizabethtown, Salisbury, and Wesley, helping the Spartans clinch the No. 4 seed in the CAC Tournament. She opened the week with a one-hit shout in a 6-0 win at Elizabethtown, carrying a no-hitter into the bottom of the seventh inning. She then helped the Spartans snap a 24-game losing streak to Salisbury with a nine-inning, four-hit performance, surrendering just one run. Closing out the week, she shut out Wesley in a crucial CAC contest to secure a playoff spot for the Spartans. Shewalked just one batter on the week. Read More

Sam Gatton Frostburg State Softball Junior Frostburg State junior Sam Gatton collected CAC Player of the Week accolades after hitting .563 (9-for-16) with three home runs in a 6-0 week for the Bobcats, who are now tied for first place in the conference standings. Gatton notched at least one hit and one run scored in all five contests in which she appeared. She totaled 10 runs scored, nine RBIs, a triple, a double and three stolen bases, and registered a slugging percentage of 1.313 for the week. Her top performance came in game one of a sweep over Hood, as she went 3-for-4 with two home runs and six RBIs in a 7-2 victory. Read More

Hannah Tavik Frostburg State Softball Senior Frostburg State senior Hannah Tavik earned CAC Pitcher of the Week honors after going 3-0 in the circle in three starts last week. Tavik struck out 15 batters in 17.0 innings and allowed just two earned runs for a 0.82 ERA in wins over Southern Virginia, Penn State Harrisburg, and Hood. She walked just two batters and surrendered 12 hits throughout the week. Read More

Shannon Powell Salisbury Softball Sophomore Salisbury sophomore Shannon Powell grabbed CAC Pitcher of the Week honors after posting a 3-0 record with a 1.17 ERA in three starts and two complete-game outings. Powell registered wins over Stevenson, Southern Virginia, and Frostburg State, totaling 11 strikeouts and walking none in her 18 innings of work. Read More

Carleigh Ruleman York Softball Senior York senior Carleigh Ruleman was named the CAC Co-Player of the Week after hitting five home runs with 12 RBIs and 11 runs scored in a 5-3 week for the Spartans. Ruleman hit .435 (10-for-23) with at least one hit and one RBI in seven of the eight games. Her top performance of the week came in game two of a twinbill sweep of Eastern, as she went 3-for-4 with three RBIs, a home run, a double, and a run scored in an 8-3 victory. Ruleman had a three-game stretch in which she hit a home run, and also drew five walks and posted a 1.217 slugging percentage for the week. Read More

Rachael Shiflett Christopher Newport Softball Senior Christopher Newport senior Rachael Shiflett secured CAC Player of the Week honors after batting .714 (10-for-14) in CAC doubleheader sweeps over York and Penn State Harrisburg this past weekend. Shiflett's seventh-inning single in game two against York brought home the winning run, capping a five-run comeback by the Captains in an 8-7 victory. She also scored four times, drove in three runs, and stole two bases for the week. Read More

Caitlin Lake Salisbury Softball Senior Salisbury senior Caitlin Lake received CAC Player of the Week honors after batting .700 with three extra-base hits last week for the Sea Gulls. Lake went 7-for-10 at the plate and reached base at a .750 clip while posting a slugging percentage of 1.400. Three of her seven hits went for extra bases with a pair of triples and a home run, her third of the year. She knocked in three runs and scored five times on the week for the Sea Gulls. Read More

Allison Short Frostburg State Softball Junior Frostburg State junior Allison Short was named the CAC Pitcher of the Week after going 3-1 with a 1.30 ERA in four appearances last week. Short nearly tossed a pair of no-hitters, allowing just one hit in a win over Bridgewater (Va.) and surrendering two hits in a win over York. In between those two victories, she allowed three hits in a complete-game victory at Catholic. For the week, she totaled 14 strikeouts while allowing five earned runs and 17 hits in 27.0 innings of work. She did not walk a batter in any of her four appearances. Read More

Stapley notched four extra-base hits including two doubles, a triple, and a home run, totaling a 1.133 slugging percentage. Her top performance of the week came in game one against Trinity (D.C.), as she hit for the cycle with six RBIs and four runs scored. She managed at least two hits in each contest and also swiped a pair of bases for the week. Read More

LeAnne Collins Salisbury Softball Junior Salisbury junior LeAnne Collins received CAC Player of the Week honors after hitting .636 in six games last week, notching 14 hits including seven extra-base knocks. Batting from the leadoff spot, she registered at least one hit in all six contests and totaled 10 RBIs and 10 runs scored in a 4-2 week for the Sea Gulls. Collins posted four triples, one home run, and one double on her way to a 1.227 slugging percentage. On Sunday, she hit for the cycle in a 9-2 win against SUNY New Paltz, with the home run being an in-the-park homer for her round-tripper of the season. Read More

Lindsay Siok Wesley Softball Senior Wesley senior Lindsay Siok received CAC Pitcher of the Week honors after going 3-1 with a 1.17 ERA during the Wolverines spring break trip. Siok totaled 24.0 innings in her four outings, surrending just four earned runs and walking two while recording 15 strikeouts. Her top performance was a complete-game shutout of Ursinus with six strikeouts. Siok is tied for the CAC lead in wins (6), second in strikeouts (31) and tied for the fifth-lowest ERA (1.50). Melissa Jurkiewicz York Softball Junior York junior Melissa Jurkiewicz earned CAC Pitcher of the Week honors after going 4-1 last week with a 0.58 ERA in 24.1 innings during the Spartans spring break trip to Clermont, Fla. Jurkiewicz totaled 20 strikeouts and did not walk a batter, scattering 14 hits throughout her five appearances. She began the week with five scoreless innings in a 9-0 win over Adrian on Tuesday, allowing two hits and striking out four. She came in relief in the 5-1 win over Rose-Hulman in Tuesday's second game, tossing six perfect innings with six strikeouts. Jurkiewicz allowed three runs, two earned, in the Spartans' 3-2 loss against MSOE as she scattered six hits with one strikeout. She bounced back with four shutout innings with five strikeouts in the win over Northwestern (Minn.). She then completed the trip with 4.1 innings of two-hit softball in the win over Nebraska Wesleyan, striking out four in the win. Read More

Joanna Marmo York Softball Sophomore York sophomore Joanna Marmo secured CAC Player of the Week honors after hitting .550 (11-for-20) and leading the Spartans to seven wins in eight games during the second half of their spring break trip to Clermont, Fla. She totaled five RBIs, seven runs scored, and five doubles for the week, while posting a .571 on-base percentage and .800 slugging percentage. Her top performances came against Finlandia and Northwestern (Minn.). Against Finlandia she went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a run scored and an RBI. Aubrey Bates Christopher Newport Softball Freshman Christopher Newport freshman Aubrey Bates was tabbed as the CAC Pitcher of the Week after picking up two wins and a save to begin her career at CNU. Bates has pitched 16.0 innings in three appearances, including two starts. Her 0.88 ERA has helped lead the Captains to a 7-1 start to the season. She has struck out 11 and walked four while allowing just two earned runs and 11 hits. Read More

Ashley Royer Wesley Softball Sophomore Wesley sophomore Ashley Royer was named the CAC Player of the Week after leading the Wolverines to a pair of doubleheader sweeps over the weekend. Royer hit .736 (10-for-13) with a home run, 13 RBIs, three doubles, and two triples in sweeps over Lincoln (Pa.) and Swarthmore. She registered at least one hit and one RBI in all four games, and posted a slugging percentage of 1.538. Royer leads the CAC in batting average, slugging percentage and triples. Read More
