Five CAC softball players, representing four of the CAC's seven teams, were named to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-District softball team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
To be eligible for nomination, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore academically, carry a minimum 3.30 grade-point average and be a starter or key reserve on his team.
The District II squad includes all NCAA Division III players from Connecticut, Washington, D.C., Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, Rhode Island and West Virginia.
Salisbury placed two players on the District II team, including junior catcher Michelle Gravdahl (Ellicott City, Md.) and junior infielder Hannah Mills (Parksley, Va.). Gravdahl is nursing major with a 3.50 grade-point average while Mills is a physical education major with a 3.54 GPA.
Also on the District II squad were Frostburg State sophomore infielder Caitlin Lovend (Laurel, Md.), Stevenson senior infielder Lisa Bilski (Fallston, Md.) and Wesley junior outfielder Jessica Baranco (Topeka, Kan.). Lovend is an athletic training major with a 3.82 GPA, Bilski is a biology major with a 3.31 GPA and Baranco is a political science major with a 3.72 GPA.
All five players will be on the national ballot for selection to the Capital One Academic All-America team.
