Salisbury's Kelly Waskewicz Named 2008 Easton Softball All-American

Salisbury University sophomore Kelly Waskewicz (Olney, Md./St. John's College) was named to the 2008 Easton softball All-American second team. This is the second straight year the Sea Gull shortstop has been honored by Easton as she landed on the third team last season. The Easton All-American teams are comprised of student-athletes across all three NCAA divisions.
The two-time All-American led the Sea Gulls to their 13th Capital Athletic Conference championship in 14 years as she garnered her second straight CAC Player of the Year award. For the season, she batted .481, scored 53 runs on 64 hits, with 12 doubles and 17 home runs. The two-time All-CAC first team shortstop drove in 45 RBI, stole 16-of-17 bases and had a slugging percentage of 1.000.
The Sea Gull standout concluded the season in the top five, nationally, in three offensive categories - home runs per game (0.44, second in the country), runs per game (1.36, fourth) and slugging percentage (1.000, sixth). Waskewicz is also 25th overall in batting average (.481) and 36th in RBI per game (1.15).
Waskewicz just completed her sophomore campaign with the Gulls and is already the school career leader in home runs with 34 and matched her own Salisbury University single-season home run record in 2008 with 17 homers.
