York Sophomore Tim Hartung Places 50th In NCAA Division III Cross Country Championship Race

York College sophomore Tim Hartung capped of his tremendous 2011 campaign with an outstanding showing at the 2011 NCAA Men's Cross Country National Championships on Saturday, November 19, in Winnecone, Wis.

In only his first national championship meet, Hartung traversed the 8,000-meter course in an excellent 24:57.20 to place 50th overall out of the 279 competitors.

Hartung's fantastic effort, a time which marks a personal-best for the sophomore by nearly a minute, caps off what was a truly excellent campaign for both him and the York squad.

Hartung captured the individual title at the 2011 Capital Athletic Conference Men's Cross Country Championships, a first for the York program, while leading the Green and White to the men's team victory, yet another Spartan first.

At the NCAA Mideast Regionals, Hartung snagged an outstanding ninth-place as he proved the first York cross country runner to ever qualify for nationals.
