Five CAC Players Selected To Compete In NCAA Men's Tennis Singles And Doubles Championships

Five Capital Athletic Conference players, including John James, Randy Loden and Kaz Murata along with senior Brendan Kincaid and sophomore Scott Burtzlaff of Salisbury University, were selected to compete for singles and doubles titles at the 2008 NCAA Men's Tennis Championship Tournament May 13-18 at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine.

James and Loden will play in the national singles tournament while Loden and partner Kaz Murata advance to the doubles flight. James and Loden's advancement in the singles tournament marks the first time in program history the Eagles have had two players in the national 32-player singles draw.

All three will also represent Mary Washington as the Eagles compete in the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Division III team championship tournament for the first time in four years.

Kincaid and Burtzlaff, the No. 1 doubles team for No. 21 Salisbury, were one of the 16 doubles team selected nationwide. The duo, ranked No. 4 in the Atlantic South region, posted an overall 18-6 record. They were selected to the 2008 All-Capital Athletic Conference first team.

Kincaid, the powerful left-hander, was also selected for the singles championship for the second time in his career at SU. The Cambridge, Md., made an appearance in the NCAA singles championships in 2006. He is 20-5 this season, ranked No. 6 in the Atlantic South region and an All-CAC first team singles selection.

This is the first time in eight years that Salisbury University men's tennis has had a representative in both the singles and doubles NCAA Division III championships.
