Salisbury And St. Mary's Go 2-0 On Opening Weekend And Among 5 Undefeated CAC Men's Soccer Teams

Playing in the same tournament, Salisbury and St. Mary's both went 2-0 on the opening weekend of the season and are among five undefeated CAC men's soccer teams following the Labor Day Weekend.

Host Salisbury topped Penn State-Altoona (4-1) Saturday and Eastern Mennonite (2-0) Sunday.  St. Mary's, under new coach Alun Oliver, downed EMU 2-1 and PSU-Altoona (4-0) to complete the CAC weekend sweep.

Wesley is undefeated through three matches so far this season, outscoring its opponents 11-2 in that stretch.   The Wolverines wrapped comfortable wins against CCNY (5-0) and Penn State-Berks (5-1) around Saturday's 1-1 draw vs. Johns Hopkins at the Goucher Tournament.

Two other teams - Frostburg State and Marymount - opened the season with a 1-0-1 mark.  The Bobcats gained a 4-1 season-opening decision against John Jay before playing a scoreless draw against Averett.  Marymount topped Bridgewater (Va.) by a 2-1 count before playing a 1-1 tie against Greensboro at Mary Washington's season-opening weekend tournament.

Seven teams play non-conference matches this week, including two by Hood (vs. Valley Forge Christian Tuesday and at Mt. Aloysius Thursday) before seven teams compete in weekend tournaments on Sept. 10-11.  Hood also hosts Waynesburg in the only non-tournament battle next Saturday (9/10).
