Defending NCAA Champion Salisbury Gains First-Round Tournament Bye; 4th-Ranked Stevenson Gains At-Large Bid To National Championship

The Salisbury men's lacrosse team, the defending national champions that won its second-straight CAC playoff title, was one of four teams to gain a first-round bye in the 2012 NCAA Championship Tournament.

Stevenson, ranked #4 in the country, also gained a bid to the national championships and will host Birmingham Southern Wednesday in the tournament's opening round.

The Sea Gulls (18-0), which defeated Stevenson in the 2012 CAC title game, will have a first-round bye and host either Washington (Md.) (11-5) or former conference rival Goucher (17-1) in a second-round game on Saturday (5/12).

The Mustangs (15-4), which finished second in the CAC this season, advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the fourth straight year.  Stevenson will host a first-round game Wednesday (5/9) against Birmingham Southern (14-4).  The winner will advance to the second round (5/12) to play either Gettysburg (10-6) or Ohio Wesleyan (10-4).
