Hood College Promotes Eric Dummann to Head Men's Lacrosse Coach
FREDERICK, MD - Eric Dummann, an assistant men's lacrosse coach at Hood College for nearly two years, was promoted earlier this week and will take the reigns as head coach of the program for the upcoming 2008 spring season.
An assistant for the Blazers since January 2006, Dummann started his lacrosse coaching career with the Olney (Md.) Boys & Girls Club youth leagues before becoming an assistant boys coach at Paul VI Catholic High School in Fairfax, Va. He then moved on to DeMatha Catholic High School, where he served as an assistant dean and assistant ice hockey coach.
A staff coach at the Elite 150 Lacrosse Camp at Mount Saint Mary's University, Dummann also runs a competitive men's league team in the American Lacrosse League in Bethesda, Md.
He was an all-league selection and team captain as a senior at Sherwood High School in Maryland and played four years at National Collegiate Lacrosse League (NCLL) power West Virginia University where he led the squad to four consecutive top 20 rankings.
Dummann currently works in behavior support with students with learning and academic disabilities at Watkins Mill High School in Gaithersburg, and is pursuing his master's degree in physical education and athletic administration at McDaniel College. He earned his bachelor's degree in liberal arts from West Virginia University in 2002.
Dummann is the fourth head coach in the history of the men's lacrosse program, which became a varsity sport at Hood in the spring of 2005. He inherits the position from Eric Shultz, who resigned earlier this month.
