Salisbury's Berkman Featured in Sports Illustrated's "Faces in the Crowd"
NEW YORK, NY - Salisbury University men's lacrosse head coach Jim Berkman is featured in the latest issue of Sports Illustrated (July 30) as one of six people selected for the weekly "Faces in the Crowd" feature.
Berkman, 47, guided the Sea Gulls to arguably one of the greatest seasons in lacrosse history as SU set new NCAA marks for wins (23), goals (417), assists (271) and points (688) en route to the programs seventh NCAA Division III national championship, fourth in the past five years. Berkman is the all-time winningest coach in men's college lacrosse history with a career record of 308-34 (.901 winning percentage).
Berkman is second all-time in wins (308), 18 shy of retired Army
coach Jack Emmer's record (326-184). Berkman will enter his 20th
season at Salisbury in 2008 where he has compiled a 299-30 record
in 19 seasons at the helm for the Sea Gulls.
Sports Illustrated reaches an audience of 20 million adults each
week and has a circulation of three million.
