Sea Gulls Perched Atop 2008 Men's Lacrosse Preseason Poll

A second men's lacrosse publication released this month
confirms what most fans of the game know when it comes to Division III,
that Salisbury University is still the team to beat. Salisbury sits at
No. 1 in the recent Lacrosse magazine 2008 Division III preseason poll
released in its January issue.

The seven-time NCAA Division III national champions enter the 2008
campaign after a record setting 2007 season saw the maroon and gold win
a NCAA record 23 lacrosse games in one season and break multiple
national records en route to their fourth national championship in five
years. Salisbury was selected No. 1 in the recent Face-off Yearbook
preseason poll released in December.

There are five preseason top 20 teams on Salisbury's 2008 schedule. The
Sea Gulls and No. 2 Gettysburg College will meet on March 29 in
Gettysburg, Pa. The Sea Gulls second game of the season welcomes No. 8
Lynchburg College to Sea Gull Stadium on February 23. When the maroon
and gold head south to Florida for their Spring Break Trip the Sea Gulls
will face No. 12 St. Lawrence on March 20. The month of April kicks off
a pair of Capital Athletic Conference contests including an April 5 game
against No. 20 Villa Julie College on the road. Finally, the Sea Gulls
close out their regular-season in the annual "War on the Shore" game
against No. 15 Washington (Md.) College at home on April 26.

Salisbury will open its season on Saturday, February 16, as the Sea
Gulls host Virginia Wesleyan in a non-conference game Noon in Sea Gull
Stadium.

The Sea Gulls will compete in two preseason scrimmages as the maroon
and gold host Saint Joseph's, a Division I program, on February 2. A
week later SU will take on Duke in Durham, N.C., on February 9. The Blue
Devils are the preseason No. 1 team in Division I.
