Salisbury junior forward KATIE McGAHAGAN (Pasadena, Md./Northeast) was named the CAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week after averaging 19.5 points and 8.0 rebounds in a pair of conference road victories that clinched the Gulls’ first home playoff game since 2003. MaGahagan had 18 points and nine boards in a mid-week win at St. Mary’s, then followed up with 21 points and seven caroms at Frostburg State. She shot 58.3% fron the field (14-for-24) and 83.3% from the foul line (83.3%) in the two games.

Mary Washington freshman ALEX ANDERSON (Vienna, Va./James Madison) was selected as the CAC Men’s Swimming Athlete of the Week for the second time this season gaining one of UMW’s two individual wins against NCAA Division I rival William & Mary. Anderson broke the team and CAC records in the 200 breaststroke (2:06.47) - one of the oldest records on the CAC books, set in 1996 by Goucher’s Mike Raley.

Edler swept the 50 freestyle (26.16) and 100 freestyle (57.48) for the sixth time this season and raised her season total to 18 gold medals.

Marymount junior middle hitter JENN FORBES (Philadelphia, Pa./Central) was named CAC Volleyball Player of the Week after she led the Saints to three wins in four outings last week and extended the team’s longest winning streak since 2006 to six matches before finishing with a non-conference setback vs. Moravian. Forbes averaged 2.93 kills per set and boasted a .462 attack percentage, including double-digit kills and a hitting percentage of over .500 in wins against Shenandoah and Lycoming. She also contributed two service aces and nine total blocks (seven assists) for the Saints.

The 21st ranked University of Mary Washington men's tennis team fell behind early, getting swept in doubles, and dropped a 5-0 decision at fourth ranked Kenyon College on Sunday in the third round of the NCAA Division III Tournament. UMW finishes with a record of 16-13 on the season.

UMW Men's Tennis Tops Kalamazoo, 5-2, in NCAA Tournament 2nd Round



The University of Mary Washington men's tennis team advanced to the third round of the NCAA Division III Tournament on Saturday, defeating Kalamazoo College, 5-2, in second round action in Gambier, Ohio. The Eagles will face host and fourth-ranked Kenyon College on Sunday at noon, with the winner advancing to the national quarterfinals in Cary, N.C., on May 22.
