St. Mary's Sr. Mike Broccolino Named To 2008 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Baseball Team
St. Mary’s College of Maryland senior Mike Broccolino (Millersville, Md./Old Mill) was named to the 2008 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District II College Division Baseball First Team as announced today by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). With his first team selection, Broccolino now advances to the national ballot and has the potential to earn CoSIDA Academic All-America® honors.

Salisbury’s Justin Armiger, Eric Willey, Dustin Herbert & Doug Fleetwood Sweep ‘08 CAC Baseball Awards
Salisbury’s baseball team, which won 35-straight games this season on the way to its third-straight Capital Athletic Conference championship, was rewarded by the conference coaches with seven first-team all-stars, including co-Players of the Year Justin Armiger (Brandywine, Md./Thomas Stone), Eric Willey (Cambridge, Md./Cambridge), Rookie of the Year Dustin Herbert (Huntingtown, Md./Huntingtown) and Coach of the Year Doug Fleetwood.

Jacen Killebrew And Mike Celenza Named CAC Baseball Co-Players Of The Week
St. Mary’s sophomore OF JACEN KILLEBREW (La Plata, Md./La Plata) and Salisbury sophomore 1B MIKE CELENZA (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard) were named the Capital Athletic Conference Baseball Co-Players of the Week for April 28, 2008. Killebrew hit .500 (7-for-14) with four runs scored and five RBI. Killebrew had a pair of multiple RBI games for the Seahawks, who won three of five games. Celenza drilled a pair of two-run homers to lift the fourth-ranked Sea Gulls to an 8-3 win over Christopher Newport. Celenza’s first bomb, in the fifth inning, tied the game, and he added a two-run insurance shot, his sixth homer of the season, in the eighth.

35-Game Win Streak Snaps, But Salisbury Baseball Wins Third-Straight CAC Crown
Second baseman Randy Boyle was one of four Salisbury players to rip three hits, including a pair of homers, and helped the Sea Gulls post a 20-5 victory over Mary Washington to win the 2008 CAC Baseball Championship.
