Women's Basketball Coache Crystal Gibson Selected as St. Mary's Next Senior Woman Administrator

Scott Devine, the director of athletics and recreation at St. Mary’s College of Maryland, announced Monday morning that Crystal Gibson, the College’s head women’s basketball coach, will serve as the Department of Athletics and Recreation’s next Senior Woman Administrator, effective immediately.

Gibson replaces former women’s soccer coach, Brianne Weaver ’00, as the department’s SWA as Weaver stepped down at the end of June to take the head coaching position at Bowdoin College in New Brunswick, Maine.  As the Senior Woman Administrator, Gibson will have a full plate of responsibilities, including attending all Capital Athletic Conference and NCAA meetings, working to address issues facing the female student-athletes and the women’s sports coaches, serving as liaison to the College’s Office of Advancement, supervising sports, and assisting with the faculty mentor program.

Gibson joined the Seahawk athletic staff last May as she came in to take over the women’s basketball program.  Prior to arriving on the St. Mary’s campus, Gibson spent three years as the head women’s basketball coach at Arcadia University in Glenside, Pennsylvania while serving as an assistant sports information director and Student-Athlete Advisory Committee advisor as well.
