St. Mary's Freshmen Billy DeBoissiere And Kelly Heyde Selected For Weekly CAC Swim Awards

St. Mary's freshmen BILLY DeBOISSIERE (Columbia, Md./Atholton) and KELLY HEYDE (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) were selected as the CAC Swimming Athletes of the Week for Nov. 3, 2009.
MEN'S SWIMMING
St. Mary's freshman BILLY DeBOISSIERE (Columbia,
Md./Atholton) was selected the CAC Men's Swimming Athlete
of the Week after winning six gold medals in his first two
collegiate meets. He helped SMC snap a 13-meet losing streak vs.
Catholic by touching the wall first in the 200 freestyle (1:52.11),
500 freestyle (5:05.71) and lead a 1-2-3 sweep in the 100
breaststroke (1:00.27). The next day, the Seahawks snapped a
seven-meet slide vs. Marymount as he captured top honors again in
the 200 (1:52.09) and 500 freestyles (5:28.54), then switched to
lead a 1-2-3 sweep in the 200 breaststroke (2:17.79) vs. the
Saints.
WOMEN'S SWIMMING
St. Mary's freshman KELLY HEYDE (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) was selected the CAC Women's Swimming Athlete of the Week after registering five individual first-place finishes, including a school-record and NCAA "B" cut performance in the Seahawks opening week of the season. Heyde opened the week with wins in the 200 IM (2:13.24), 500 free (5:22.19) and 1,000 free (10:53.97) as SMC topped Catholic. In Saturday's win over Marymount, Heyde broke the SMC record and posted a provisional national qualifying time in the 200 butterfly (2:07.71), added a win in the 200 freestyle (2:00.64) and swam the first leg of the victorious 400 medley relay.
