Stevenson junior field hockey goalkeeper KARA ZIMMERMAN (Odenton, Md./Arundel), Mary Washington freshman men's soccer midfielder DUKE MENSAH-ABRAMPAH (Gainesville, Va./Battlefield), Stevenson junior men's soccer forward TYLER KING (PARKVILLE, Md./Calvert Hall), Wesley freshman women's soccer midfielder LINDSEY CAMPBELL (Bear, Del./Padua Academy) and Gallaudet senior volleyball libero SHANA LEHMANN (Frederick, Md./Maryland School for the Deaf) were selected as the CAC Players of the Week for Nov. 2, 2009.
FIELD HOCKEY
Stevenson junior goalkeeper KARA ZIMMERMAN (Odenton, Md./Arundel) was named the CAC Field Hockey Player of the Week after two strong performances in a regular-season upset victory and a tough playoff loss. Zimmerman totaled 21 saves (.840 percentage) and posted a 1.95 goals against average for the Mustangs. She had 10 saves in a win over Wesley that knocked the Wolverines out of a potential tie for second place in the regular-season standings. She was very active and finished with 11 saves in Sunday's playoff loss at York, which tied for second place in ther regular-season standings. She finished the season with a career-best 172 saves and boasts a school record 420 career stops.
MEN'S SOCCER
Mary Washington freshman midfielder DUKE MENSAH-ABRAMPAH (Gainesville, Va./Battlefield) and Stevenson junior forward TYLER KING (PARKVILLE, Md./Calvert Hall) were named the CAC Men's Soccer Co-Players of the Week after both scored twice to lead their teams to first-round CAC playoff victories.
Mensah-Abrampah rallied the third-seeded Eagles from a 1-0 deficit in the final eight minutes of regulation, his sixth goal of the season, then tallied the game-winner in the second overtime period to lift UMW into the conference semifinals. Mensah-Abrampah has 15 points on seven goals and an assist this season.
King started the week with a goal and an assist at Gallaudet, then registered the first two goals of the game, including the game-winner, in a CAC playoff victory over Wesley. He has at least one point in four-straight games and has scored all of his 13 points (four goals, five assists) over the last six matches.
WOMEN'S SOCCER
Wesley freshman midfielderLINDSEY CAMPBELL (Bear, Del./Padua Academy) was named the CAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week scoring both goals in a regular-season ending victory over Marymount that clinched a berth in the 2009 CAC playoffs for the Wolverines. Campbell started all 18 matches in her first season with the Wolverines, finishing the season with five goals and an assist for 11 points and scored Wesley's only penalty kick attempt of the season.
VOLLEYBALL
Gallaudet senior libero SHANA LEHMANN (Frederick, Md./Maryland School for the Deaf) was named the Capital Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week after a strong defensive weekend that averaged 25 digs overa five matches. In addition to helping the Bison clinch third place in the CAC regular-season standings, Lehmann recorded 32 digs against 23rd-ranked Eastern and 30 digs against Washington & Lee as GU participated in the Seahawk Invitational at St. Mary's.
