February 24, 2009 Berkman And Kennedy Named CAC Lacrosse Players Of The Week

Salisbury senior midfielder KYLOR BERKMAN (Salisbury, Md./Parkside) and Mary Washington freshman midfielder CATHERINE KENNEDY (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore Lutheran) were selected as the CAC Lacrosse Players of the Week for Feb. 24, 2009.

MEN'S LACROSSE

Salisbury senior midfielder KYLOR BERKMAN (Salisbury, Md./Parkside) was named the first CAC Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week for the 2009 season after eight goals and eight assists in the Sea Gulls' first two games of the season. Berkman tallied four goals and five assists for a career-high nine points in the season-opening win over Scranton, then added four scores and three helpers in a victory over sixth-ranked Lynchburg.

WOMEN'S LACROSSE

Mary Washington freshman midfielder CATHERINE KENNEDY (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore Lutheran) was named the first CAC Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week for the 2009 season after a memorable debut for her collegiate career. Kennedy found the back of the net six times, including what proved to be the game-winning goal, in UMW's season-opening victory at Guilford. She also chipped in with two ground balls and two turnovers for the Eagles.

SPECIAL MENTION: Hood junior midfielder BRANDY NOEL (Severn, Md./Old Mill) scored four goals in the team's season-opening contest vs. Wesley. The most important, however, was the game-winning score with 25 seconds left in the contest, which lifted the Blazers to their first conference victory in two seasons as a member of the CAC.
