CAC Honors Patrick Prewitt, Kathleen Brown And Keli Ward With Weekly Hoop Awards

Marymount junior guard PATRICK PREWITT (Bowie, Md./Eleanor Roosevelt), Marymount junior forward KATHLEEN BROWN (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman) and York senior guard KELI WARD (Nottingham, Pa./Oxford) were selected as the CAC Basketball Players of the Week for Feb. 16, 2009.

MEN'S BASKETBALL  

Marymount junior guard PATRICK PREWITT (Bowie, Md./Eleanor Roosevelt) was named CAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week after leading the Saints to a pair of conference victories and into a tie for fourth place in the conference standings. Prewitt averaged 18.5 points, shot 63.2 percent (12-for-19) from the field and 100% (10-for-10) at the free throw line. His best game was a 23-point performance in Saturday's 13-point win over Mary Washington. Prewitt also contributed seven assists, three steals and five rebounds in two games.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

Marymount junior forward KATHLEEN BROWN (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman) and York senior guard KELI WARD (Nottingham, Pa./Oxford) were named the CAC Women's Basketball Co-Players of the Week each registered two double-doubles and leading their respective teams to a pair of victories, including key victories over top CAC rivals that kept the Spartans and Saints at the top of the CAC standings.

Brown averaged 18.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, shot 47.8% from the field (11-for-23), 100% from the line and added four blocks for the Saints. In Saturday's win over defending CAC champion Mary Washington, which kept the Saints in second place heading into the final week of action, Brown knocked down game-highs of 22 points and added a game-high 11 boards.

Ward averaged 19.0 points, 11.0 rebounds, 6.0 assists and shot 62.5 percent (15-for-24) from the floor in two games for the Spartans. In addition to 15 points, she dished out the assist on the game-winning bucket in a non-conference win at McDaniel. She then totaled 23 points and 11 boards in her 27th career double-double and York's team-record 22-straight win in a nine-point win at fourth-place Wesley that clinched YCP's first-ever CAC regular-season championship and the top seed in the upcoming playoffs.
