December 9, 2008 Murtha And Hotchko Win CAC Weekly Swimming Awards

Marymount senior GREG MURTHA (South Windsor, Conn./South Windsor) and St. Mary's junior RACHEL HOTCHKO (Yakima, Wash./A.C. Davis) were selected as the conference Swimming Athletes of the Week for Dec. 9, 2008.

MEN'S SWIMMING

Marymount senior GREG MURTHA (South Windsor, Conn./South Windsor) was selected the CAC Men's Swimming Athlete of the Week after winning two individual events and helping the Saints finish sixth place in the annual Franklin & Marshall Invitational. Murtha took top honors in the 50 freestyle (21.57) and the 100 butterfly (52.09) while adding a fifth-place finish in the 100 freestyle (48.44).

WOMEN'S SWIMMING

St. Mary's junior RACHEL HOTCHKO (Yakima, Wash./A.C. Davis) was selected the CAC Women's Swimming Athlete of the Week after winning the 100 fly and the 200 fly at the annual Franklin & Marshall Invitational. Her 100 fly time of 58.00 was just .04 off the SMC team record and was an NCAA provisional qualifying time. She also placed fourth in the 50 freestyle and helped the Seahawks win the 200 freestyle relay and place second in three other relay events.
