Marymount junior BRIAN MORCH (Manassas, Va./Seton) and St. Mary's senior women's swimmer BRIE McDOWELL (Doylestown, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) were selected as the CAC Swimming Athletes of the Week for Nov. 18, 2008.
Marymount junior BRIAN MORCH (Manassas, Va./Seton) was named the CAC Men's Swimming Athlete of the Week after winning two individual races and contributing to a winning relay in the Saints' win over Hood. Morch captured top honors in the 200 individual medley (2:13.49) and the 200 breaststroke (2:29.72) and swam the anchor leg of the 200 medley relay (1:48.20) that posted a four-second victory.
St. Mary's senior BRIE McDOWELL (Doylestown, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) was selected the CAC Women's Swimming Athlete of the Week for the second-straight week by breaking an individual pool record, a relay team pool record, an individual school record and recording an NCAA "B" cut in capturing six gold medals in two meets. Midweek at Randolph-Macon, McDowell led off the pool-record seting 400 medley relay team (4:09.55) with an individual record-setting 59.49 in the 100 backstroke. She also posted wins in the 200 IM and 200 backstroke vs. R-M. Saturday against Washington (Md.) College, McDowell broke the school record and posted an NCAA ‘B' cut of 4:38.74 in the 400 IM, then won the 100 free and contributed to the gold medal 200 medley relay team.
