January 20, 2009 Mary Washington's Justin Anderson And Sarah Crockett Win Weekly Swimming Awards

Mary Washington junior JUSTIN ANDERSON (Oak Hill, Va./Oakton) and UMW sophomore SARAH CROCKETT (Toano, Va./Lafayette) were selected as the Capital Athletic Conference Swimming Athletes of the Week for Jan. 20, 2009.

MEN'S SWIMMING

Mary Washington junior JUSTIN ANDERSON (Oak Hill, Va./Oakton) was selected the CAC Men's Swimming Athlete of the Week after winning five gold medals in two days as the Eagles improved to 5-0 against CAC competition. Anderson took top honors in the 400 IM (4:29.64) and was on a pair of victorious relay teams in UMW's win Friday at Marymount. Saturday, at home against St. Mary's, Anderson captured gold in the 100 freestyle (49.66) and was a member of the 400 freestyle relay team (3:21.34).

WOMEN'S SWIMMING

Mary Washington sophomore SARAH CROCKETT (Toano, Va./Lafayette) was selected the CAC Women's Swimming Athlete of the Week for the third time this season after winning two individual events and and a first-place relay team twice over the weekend, leading the Eagles to wins over CAC rivals Marymount and St. Mary's. Friday at Marymount, Crockett won the 100 freestyle (55.13) and the 200 freestyle (1:58.20) and was a member of the winning 200 free relay (1:42.49). At home against St. Mary's on Saturday, Crockett won the 100 freestyle (54.47) and the 200 freestyle (1:57.73), and was a member of the winning 400 free relay (3:46.89).
