November 11, 2008 Stevenson Volleyball, Women's Soccer And Wesley Men's Soccer Gain ECAC Playoff Bids

The Stevenson University volleyball and women's soccer teams, along with the Wesley College men's soccer team, had their respective seasons extended Monday when they were awarded ECAC playoff bids.

The Stevenson volleyball team (31-7), which has already set a school record for wins this season, is the top seed in the eight-team ECAC South Tournament and will host SUNY-IT (21-11) Wednesday (11/12) at 7 p.m.  If the Mustangs win, they'll host the tournament semifinals (11/15) and championship (11/16) this weekend.

Stevenson's women's soccer team (11-5-4) is the fifth seed in the ECAC South Championship and will travel to Carlisle, Pa., for a first-round battle against fourth-seeded Dickinson (12-3-4) Wednesday (11/12) at 3 p.m.  If the Mustangs win, they'll advance to the semifinal round of the eight-team event Saturday at the highest-remaining seed (#1 Frostburg, #2 Westminster, #3 Delaware Valley).

The Wesley men's soccer team (11-7-3), which played in its first CAC Championship Saturday at Salisbury (3-0 loss), is the sixth seed in the ECAC South Tournament and will visit third-seeded Catholic (12-6) Wednesday.  The game is a re-match of an Oct. 29 contest, which Catholic won by a 3-2 count.  If Wesley is successful, they'll advance to the semifinal round of the eight-team championship Staurday at the highest-remaining seed (#1 Kings, Pa., #2 Frostburg, #4 Penn State-Behrend).
