Wesley Announces Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2011
July 10, 2011A total of 14 former student-athletes representing nine different sports comprises the 2011 class of the Wesley College Athletic Hall of Fame. The sports of baseball, men's basketball, women's basketball, field hockey, football, golf, men's lacrosse, softball and wrestling each will have at least one of its all time greats inducted in a ceremony to be held Friday, October 7 at the Schwartz Center for the Arts as part of Wesley's Homecoming festivities. -
CAC Names A Record 1,023 Student-Athletes To The 2010-11 All-Academic Team
June 30, 2011The Capital Athletic Conference announced that a new record of 1,023 student-athletes were named to the 2010-11 All-Academic Team. It is the first time in CAC history that more than 1,000 student-athletes, representing nine member institutions and 19 championship sports, were named to the conference’s All-Academic Team. Student-athletes in one or more CAC championship sports that attain a 3.20 grade point average (GPA) for the academic year earn a spot on the CAC All-Academic team. -

Matthew D. Shank, Ph.D., Named President of Marymount University
May 13, 2011The Board of Trustees of Marymount University has announced the selection of Matthew D. Shank, Ph.D., as the University’s sixth president, effective July 1, 2011. Shank will succeed Dr. James E. Bundschuh, who has served as Marymount’s president since 2001. -
Salisbury Edges Mary Washington For The 2011 Richard C. Cook All-Sports Award; Sea Gulls And Eagles Tie For Women's Title; York Wins Men's Crown For 2nd Straight Year
May 11, 2011Not only did Salisbury University rally in the second half to win the 2011 men’s lacrosse championship, but the victory in the last conference championship of the 2010-11 season lifted the Sea Gulls to capture the 2011 Richard C. Cook All-Sports Award by one half point over the University of Mary Washington. Salisbury captured six of the 19 CAC championships during the 2010-11 academic year and finished either second or third in three other sports on the way to compiling 166.50 points in the overall standings to win the all-sports championship for the sixth-straight year. -
Hood Inducts 10 Into Chi Alpha Sigman National Scholar-Athlete Society

May 05, 2011Long-time Marymount University women’s basketball head coach and athletics director Bill Finney and former Saints standouts Rob Harris, Chris Ann Becki Strahan and Sharee McClellan Gates were inducted into the Marymount University Athletics Hall of Fame on Saturday night. Also inducted to the Hall of Friends was Judy Finney, former sports information director and senior woman administrator at Marymount. -

May 03, 2011The St. Mary’s College of Maryland Department of Athletics and Recreation inducted 30 of its student-athletes into the Maryland Beta Chapter of Chi Alpha Sigma, the national college athlete honor society. The large group equaled the Chi Alpha Sigma Induction Class of 2004 as the biggest group ever honored as 2004 marked the inception of the Maryland Beta Chapter at St. Mary’s. -
Men’s Soccer Volunteers with Arlington TOPSoccer
May 01, 2011Marymount University’s men’s soccer team took time away from the pitch to volunteer with Arlington TOPSoccer on Saturday. TOPSoccer is a community-based soccer training and team placement program that brings the opportunity of learning and playing soccer to any boy or girl, ages 4-19, who has a mental or physical disability. TOPSoccer was started in Arlington in 2002. -

April 08, 2011York College of Pennsylvania is proud to announce that Paul Saikia has been selected as the new Assistant Dean for Athletics and Recreation. Saikia, who has been the Spartans' baseball coach for the last 24 years, has served as an Associate Athletic Director for the last ten years. Saikia was selected after an extensive national search filled with high caliber candidates. -

Former director of athletics and head women’s basketball coach Bill Finney will be one of the four enshrined, as well as volleyball’s Chris Ann Becki, men’s basketball’s Rob Harris and dual sport athlete Sharee McClellan in women’s basketball and soccer. In addition, longtime sports information director and senior woman administrator Judy Finney will be honored in the Hall of Friends. -

March 15, 2011When the START program was being conceptualized by five NCAA Division II and III commissioners and executives of the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) in 2009, two components of the officiating puzzle were analyzed – recruitment of new officials, and increasing opportunities for scholastic officials, especially those working district and state playoff games, to become collegiate officials. -

START Program, To Recruit Sports Referees And Officials, Returns To York College Feb. 7, 2011
February 02, 2011York College will host its fifth START program on consecutive Mondays (Feb. 7 and Feb. 14). START, or Students of Today are Referees of Tomorrow, was an initiative to recruit college students and others into the avocation of sports officiating, beginning on the scholastic levels and hopefully advancing to the collegiate level in future years. The sports offered this session at York College will include baseball, basketball, soccer and field hockey. -

York College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Hosts Annual Christmas With The Community Sunday
December 04, 2010York College Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is hosting its annual Christmas with the Community event this Sunday, December 5, at York College’s Grumbacher Sport and Fitness Center. The event begins at 4:30 pm and will end after Santa hands out presents. Christmas with the Community will host 12 families chosen from local women’s and homeless shelters in York County. SAAC represents over 400 student athletes who compete in the 20 sports at York College. -
