Capital Athletic Conference Announces March 25 Awards For Tennis and Track & Field

YORK, Pa. -- Salisbury junior ANNA MARIE KABLE (Parkton, Md./Notre Dame Prep), Salisbury sophomore SCOTT BURTZLAFF (Clarksville, Md./River Hill), Mary Washington senior CHRISTY FALCONE (Dix Hills, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills) and Hood sophomore BLAIR AMES (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford) have been named the Capital Athletic Conference Athletes of the Week in their respective sports for March 25, 2008.

WOMEN'S TENNIS

Salisbury junior ANNA MARIE KABLE (Parkton, Md./Notre Dame Prep) was named the Capital Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week for March 24, 2008 after posting a 2-1 singles record and a 3-0 doubles mark, both at the No. 1 position, as the Sea Gulls went undefeated in Spring Break trip matches vs. Colorado College, Whittier and Occidental.

MEN'S TENNIS

Salisbury sophomore SCOTT BURTZLAFF (Clarksville, Md./River Hill) was named the Capital Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week for March 24, 2008 after winning all three singles matches at the No. 3 position and pairing with senior Brendan Kincaid to go 2-1 in doubles during SU's Spring Break trip to California, where the Sea Gulls played several nationally and regionally-ranked teams.

WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD

Mary Washington senior CHRISTY FALCONE (Dix Hills, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills) was named the Capital Athletic Conference Women's Track & Field Athlete of the Week after breaking the track and meet records with a winning time of 18:45 in the 5,000-meter run at the Bridgewater College Invitational.

MEN'S TRACK & FIELD

Hood sophomore BLAIR AMES (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford) was named the Capital Athletic Conference Men's Track & Field Athlete of the Week award for March 24, 2008 after posting school-record performances by winning the 800 (2:07.74), 1,500 (4:19.56) and as a member of the record-breaking 4x400 relay team (3:37.40).
