March 24 CAC Baseball, Softball And Lacrosse Awards Announced

YORK, Pa. -- Salisbury senior attack SUE ACKERMANN (Sykesville, Md./Liberty), St. Mary's freshman attack DENNIS ROSSON (Severna Park, Md./Severn), Mary Washington freshman 2B ERIC REHBEIN (Alexandria, Va./Gonzaga) and Mary Washington sophomore shortstop KAITLIN PETRELLA (Leesburg, Va./Heritage) have been named the Capital Athletic Conference Athletes of the Week in their respective sports for March 24, 2008.

WOMEN'S LACROSSE

For the second-straight week, Salisbury senior attack SUE ACKERMANN (Sykesville, Md./Liberty) was named the Capital Athletic Conference Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week after scoring 10 goals and six assists (16 points) in two victories. She keyed a triumph over 8th-ranked Bowdoin with six goals and two assists, then added a four goal, four assist performance over Roanoke.

MEN'S LACROSSE

St. Mary's freshman attack DENNIS ROSSON (Severna Park, Md./Severn) was named the Capital Athletic Conference Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week award for March 24, 2008 after piling up eight goals and 11 points in a pair of victories, snapping SMC's four-match losing streak, the team's longest since 2002. Rosson chipped in two goals and an assist in a CAC win over Marymount, then followed up with a career-best six goal and eight points in a non-conference triumph over Christopher Newport.

BASEBALL

Mary Washington freshman 2B ERIC REHBEIN (Alexandria, Va./Gonzaga) was named the Capital Athletic Conference Baseball Player of the Week award for March 24, 2008 after contributing two hits in all three UMW wins last week. He was instrumental in a CAC DH sweep vs. York with three singles, a triple, four runs scored and four RBI.

SOFTBALL

Mary Washington sophomore shortstop KAITLIN PETRELLA (Leesburg, Va./Heritage) was named the Capital Athletic Conference Softball Player of the Week award for March 24, 2008 after leading the Eagles to a 3-1 week by hitting 7-for-13 with three home runs and seven RBI.
